Our Thespian Posted by Hello

Congrats Jimmy!

Jimmy did an excellent job on his first play last night! His third grade class had "Paragon Night" and did a skit about the Algonquin Indians. Jimmy studied his line for over a week and nailed it last night! We were so proud to see him up there, with nerves of steel.

I remember about three weeks ago, he came home from school and mentioned that he told his teacher he didn't want to be in the school play. I asked him why, and he answered, "What if I forget my line??"

We sat down and had a talk about just forgetting your fears, being brave, and taking chances. He decided he was going to go for it, and signed on the next day.

He didn't stumble or stutter at all - and he remembered his LONG line:"The word Algonquin means "at the place of spearing fishes and eels, " which makes perfect sense because we have always made our homes beside the lakes and streams of the North."

We are so very proud of Jimmy and his accomplishment last night!

Wyoming Sky Posted by Hello

It's Official!

Well everyone,

It is official! The USAF has decided to send us to FE Warren AFB in Wyoming! That is going to be a serious change of pace for us... But after getting adjusted to the idea, we are really excited and anxious. We are sad to be so far away from family, friends, and our new house though. But, we've never lived in this part of the country so the journey should be an exciting one.

We saw pictures of the base housing and it is really nice! Alot of it is new and there is no waiting list for a three bedroom right now. Keep your fingers crossed that it stays that way! I will have to say goodbye to my scrapbook studio/office here in DC, but there looks like there will be plenty of room for a little space for my work in Wyoming. I am so incredibly lucky to be able to pick up and take my business with me.

We are leaving the DC area at the middle/end of May, so we still have a little time left in this area. Dave's last weekend at the Department of the Interior is next weekend, so we will have lots of time to see what we want to see here before we leave. On the agenda: a visit to Sesame Place so Derek can see Elmo and friends!

We'll keep you posted on our move!

Happy Holidays!

The Bedner Year in Review

Happy holidays everyone! We hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday season. This year has brought many new things our way! We are so thankful for our friends and our family - we love you all so very much!

David made TSgt this year and we couldn't be prouder. He took a new position at the Pentagon that brought him longer hours and more time away from the family. We made do though, and can't wait until we are out of the D.C. area. He continues to work on his college courses, works part time at the Department of the Interior, and did get to play a little football this year. His shoulder surgery earlier this year didn't sideline him very long.

Elena continued work on DirectSalesMoms.com this year, growing and expanding her business. Scrapbooking is still a big hobby for her. She continues to sell on Ebay and is starting to get paid to scrapbook for others. She plan on expanding her horizons by offering her web design services for hire in the coming year. She also continues work on her college classes, and was asked to be a spokesperson for a Military Spouse Scholarship program that the school is offering. She visited Capitol Hill this year to speak on the subject, and plans to be more active in the coming year for this cause. She is very lucky to have the scholarship herself as the school is not offering it to any new spouses due to lack of funding. Between the kids, her business, and school this year was super busy!

Jimmy continues to excel at school. We are so proud of his achievements. He made Student of the Day 9 times this year - the most out of anyone in his class. He also earned Attendance, Citizenship, and Honor Roll Awards this year. He continues to show a love for Math, PE (his favorite subject he says), and the NY Giants! His last report card was all A's and one B. He has a new teacher that recently took over the class and he is doing great. We are still waiting to see if he is going to be moved up to 4th grade math. Jimmy's teachers continue to tell us that he is a delight to have in the classroom...

Derek is growing like a weed! He is so big and talkative. It is so funny to hear the things that come out of his mouth... He has memorized a whole scene of the movie "Rudy" - amazing for a 2 year old!! He says he wants to grow up big and strong and play football like Rudy. We had a scare with him about a month back. Dave had to go to the emergency room with him, because of a terrible cough. We feared that it was pneumonia all over again. It turned out to be the Croup. It wasn't serious though and went away after a couple of days. Derek is a funny little fellow... He is a challenge (his terrible two's are here), but a joy to be around.

That pretty much sums up our year in review. I hope this finds you all doing well, and enjoying your Christmas.

Our Best to You in 2005,
The Bedners

Dave's Promotion

Dave pinned on Technical Sergeant today. Elena and the kids went to the Pentagon to pin on his new stripe. The ceremony was hosted by one of Dave's bosses (Colonel Caniano). He's an Army Colonel and a Yankees fan...cool guy :) Dave acknowledged Elena and the boys as his inspiration and main reason for this stripe. Elena thinks it was because of his smarts but Dave credits her optimism and support. Master Segeant is his next goal although he won't be eligible to test for that stripe until February 2006...plenty of time to study :)

Daddy & Derek Carve the Turkey Posted by Hello

Mommy & the Boys Posted by Hello

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey everyone!

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We had a nice quiet Thanksgiving at home... We had the usual: turkey and all the trimmings, pies, cookies, football, and a turkey induced nap... :) We even put up all the Christmas decorations - we were in such a festive mood! You can see our other Thanksgiving pictures (and other recent photos) at: http://photos.yahoo.com/bednerfamily

The week before that, we spent a wonderful weekend in Connecticut where Dave surprised Elena with a 30th Birthday Party! The family was all there, Elena was totally surprised and had a wonderful time. It was so great to see everyone (in person and on video) and spend time. It was one of her BEST Birthdays on record. Thanks so much to everyone involved who made it so special!

We all ready for Christmas... Our shopping is pretty much done, and Derek keeps talking about seeing Santa. Grandma Barbara promises a visit with him when we come up for Christmas - we can't wait to see his face!

Jimmy is doing great, and is being evaluated for being put in a 4th grade Math class. Look at the big brain on Jimmy! He is missing his friends that are moving away (across the base), so we have been shuttling him back and forth. His social calendar is fuller than ours! Sheesh! He had a nice 9th Birthday - he is 9 going on 19! :)

Dave puts on TSgt on Wednesday, Dec 1st - we are SOOO PROUD! We will be sure and post pictures of us "pinning" his rank on.

All in all the Fall has been pretty busy for us! We will find out where the USAF is sending us soon - hopefully somewhere nice!

We just wanted to give a quick update on us - Happy Holidays everyone!

Hugs,
The Bedner Family

The Kiddos Before the Festival Posted by Hello

Apple Harvest Festival

Hey guys!

We had a great weekend last weekend! We finally made it up to the Apple Harvest Festival in Southington, CT last weekend. The company was wonderful, (thanks Auntie La La & Uncle Todd) and the apple fritters were plentiful! Man those things are GOOD! We loved seeing grandma and grandpa too... The weekends there always go by too quickly.

We decided to leave late Friday night and got there in record time - 5hrs! No traffic at all... We woke up Saturday morning, went to a pee wee football game (still saying prayers for Diane and family), and went on to the Apple Harvest. Grandma made an awesome dinner that night (LOVE her Beef Cutlet). Sunday we went to the festival again, and ate more fritters. Man I have to figure out what is in those... We went to dinner that night at a nice place named Portofino - very good food!

We left Sunday morning after an awesome breakfast at Carousel with Grandpa. Man - this whole trip seemed to revolved around FOOD! Can't wait to go back in November...

You can view the newest pictures here.

Hope you enjoy the pictures from the weekend as much as we enjoyed the weekend itself...

Hugs,
David, Elena
Jimmy & Derek

Newest Pictures of the Boys

Hey all!

Here is a new picture of the boys... They are getting bigger every day! :) This is them on our new porch swing - hamming it up as usual! They are such a handful - and FIGHT more often these days. But they love each other dearly and are so much fun together... Most of the time...

:)
